2017 Lois Lenski Children’s Literature Lecture features Betsy Bird

Event Description

Betsy Bird, collection development manager of the Evanston Public Library will present “Wild Things Online: How the Internet Will Save Us / Destroy Us All” as the 2017 Lois Lenski Children’s Literature Lecture from 7-8:15 p.m. Monday, March 27, in Stevenson 101.

Bird will be discussing the state of children’s literature online, including thoughts on social media, online resources, recent and ongoing debates, and where this may head in the future. Bird is the creator of the award-winning children’s literature blog, A Fuse #8 Production, sponsored by School Library Journal.  She is the co-author along with Julie Danielson and Peter Sieruta of Wild Things! Acts of Mischief in Children’s Literature (2014); the author of the picture book, Giant Dance Party (2013), and the editor of the middle school anthology, Funny Girl: Funniest. Stories. Ever. (2017).  

The Lois Lenski Children’s Literature Lecture is co-sponsored by the ISU English Department and Milner Library.
