2019 Youth Mural Project
The Bloomington 2019 Youth Mural Project will feature a group of local youth, who will envision, design and paint their own community mural in a prominent location in downtown Bloomington, where thousands of residents will experience it each day!
The project will be led by Joel Bergner, a Bloomington-Normal native who travels the globe creating public art with communities that have experienced trauma and conflict. He co-founded and co-directs Artolution, an international non-profit organization that is partnering with the ISU Art Station to bring this innovative public art project to the community.
A group of local teaching artists will participate, and will be introduced to the Artolution methodology. On the final day, the community, including family and friends of the participants, will be invited to attend a closing ceremony in which the mural will be unveiled to the public.
Mural workshop begins on Friday, May 31. Mural will begin Monday, June 3, and end Friday, June 7. FREE registration ends Wednesday, May 16.
