Above and Beyond STEM
Dr. May Jadallah, Associate Professor in the School of Teaching and Learning, and Joel Studebaker, Project Manager, will present a talk at 4:30 pm at the University Club in the Founders’ Suite in the Bone Student Center entitled, “Above and Beyond STEM”. As STEM has grown into a phenomenon, our team has spent years researching and developing ATLAS, a curriculum for elementary students that fosters confidence with computers, independence, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving skills while tying in to other learning standards like Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. In addition, we have developed rigorous training materials to help teachers become experts at implementing new technology in their classrooms. We’ll discuss our philosophy of holistic learning, how that philosophy shaped the ATLAS curriculum, and how we believe schools, teacher educators, and community members can contribute to an educational culture that will prepare students to be vigorous members of tomorrow’s technologically advanced society.
All faculty, staff, annuitants and guests are welcome to join us at the University Club from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Friday in the Founders’ Suite in the Bone Student Center. (PLEASE NOTE the room change due to use of the FSC for voter registration). You need not be a University Club member to attend.
