Alumni and friends reception for Hit the Wall
The LGBTQA Alumni Network invites all alumni and friends to a performance of Illinois State’s School of Theatre and Dance’s Hit the Wall along with a special reception.
It’s the summer of ’69, and the death of music icon Judy Garland has emboldened her gay followers. A routine police raid on an underground Greenwich Village hotspot erupts into a full-scale riot, the impetus of the modern gay rights movement. That’s the well-known, oft-rehearsed myth of Stonewall, anyhow. See what comes from the “I was there” moments in this spectacular performance.
Guests attending the reception for the show will have the opportunity to meet show director David Prete, hear from the actors of Hit the Wall, and enjoy heavy appetizers.
Show times: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Reception: 5-7 p.m.
Cost to attend the reception is $15. A cash bar will be available. Cost for a performance ticket is $8 (discounted alumni price). Register by 4:30 p.m. February 17 online or by calling Alumni Engagement at (309) 438-2586.
