American Democracy Project: The True Cost
Join the American Democracy Project on Monday, November 12, for a screening of a groundbreaking documentary film, The True Cost, at the Student Services Building, Room 110 P.
The True Cost addresses the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the clothing industry is having on our world. Released in May 2015 and filmed in countries all over the world, the film includes interviews with leading influencers in the clothing industry — Stella McCarney, Livia Firth, and Vandana Shiva. It covers the untold story and asks a question worth pondering: Who really pays the price for the clothing on our backs?
Following the screening, Elisabeth Reed, a professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, will facilitate a discussion. A pizza lunch and drinks will be provided before the documentary. The screening will begin promptly at noon with a discussion to follow immediately.
