Enjoy an overview about art and architecture in ancient Italy, from the predecessors of the Romans through the birth of empire. Instead of broad surveys, this course will dive into selected topics that will illuminate how the peoples of ancient Italy saw themselves, their families, their gods, and their government.

January 28      Emperors and Architecture: The Birth of Propaganda

February 4       Pompeii: The Homes and Gardens of Roman Italy

February 11     Mosaics and Kinesthetic Address: Research at Oplontis
