“At the Table” Virtual Dinner and Discussion, Register by October 16th

Event Description

At the Table is a series of virtual dinners and facilitated conversations that aim to build community and embrace vulnerability during these difficult times. Each event gathers open, reflective individuals virtually to dine and discuss a chosen topic for the evening. The topic for October’s dinner is, “Appropriation, Adaptation, and Allyship”.

To participate, please register by October 16th. Information regarding how to pick up your non-perishable ingredients, recipe, and bowl from University Galleries are within the registration form. Participation and provided ingredients are free; however, space is limited.

The October dinner will occur on Sunday, October 25th from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Recipe: Shepherd’s Pie. (The suggested cooking time to participate in this event is between 5:15-6:15 p.m.)

At the Table is co-facilitated by MFA students Aca Carle, Japheth Asiedu-Kwarteng, Peytin Fitzgerald, Priscilla Lo, and Assistant Professor of Nonwestern/Global Art History Kantara Souffrant and is sponsored by the Wonsook Kim School of Art, University Galleries, Green Top Grocery, and Bloomington Hy-Vee. These virtual dinners and discussions gather individuals across ISU and the Bloomington-Normal community to dine and discuss the evening’s chosen topic. A recipe, curated and adapted by Priscilla Lo, accompanies each event. Participants will receive recipes and non-perishable ingredients to create the meals before the discussion begins. Every participant will also receive a handmade bowl made by Japheth Asiedu-Kwarteng with support from Priscilla Lo. Each meal and conversation topic is different, but the goal is to host a communal space that welcomes conversations across differences. We aim to be a space for listening, learning, and respecting each other’s humanity.
