Book Launch Celebration March 6 for Tim Hunt

Wednesday, March 6th 2019
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Description

The Publications Unit in the Department of English will be hosting a book launch celebration for University Professor Emeritus Tim Hunt for his new book Ticket Stubs & Liner Notes. The book launch and signing will take place from 7–8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at the Publications Unit in the Williams Hall Annex. This event is free and open to the public.

Winner of the 2018 Main Street Rag Book Award, the poems of Ticket Stubs & Liner Notes recall the 1950s and 1960s through the music of Chuck Berry to Sun Ra by way of Jefferson Airplane—the way things were and how we remember them shimmy, twist, and slow dance until the actual and remembered collide with the fabled and maybe should’ve been. Ticket Stubs & Liner Notes is available for purchase through the Main Street Rag Online Bookstore.

Tim Hunt has claimed authorship for three collections: Poem’s Poems & Other Poems (CW Books), The Tao of Twang (CW Books), and Fault Lines (The Backwaters Press). He has received the Chester H. Jones Foundation’s National Poetry Prize—along with three Pushcart Prize nominations—and has been a finalist and semifinalist for a number of awards, including the May Swenson Poetry Award. Hunt graduated from Cornell University with a focus in literature. He has taught American literature at several schools—including Washington State University and Deep Springs College. He taught at Illinois State University as a University Professor of English until 2016. Hunt’s scholarly publications include Kerouac’s Crooked Road: Development of a Fiction, The Textuality of Soulwork: Jack Kerouac’s Quest for Spontaneous Prose, and the five volumes of The Collected Poetry of Robinson Jeffers.
