Chicago Suburban Alumni Network #RedbirdImpact service day
As part of #RedbirdImpact month, the Chicago Suburban Alumni Network has teamed up with the Northern Illinois Food Bank. By volunteering, the #RedbirdImpact helps more than 71,500 neighbors served by the Northern Illinois Food Bank each week.
Redbird volunteers will assist with evaluating, sorting, labeling, and packing items for distribution to 13 counties. Be sure to wear an ISU shirt and comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Once service concludes, the network is including a special Redbird favorite for lunch—Avanti’s Gondola sandwiches straight from Normal—as a small token of thanks!
Those interested in making a #RedbirdImpact can register by 4:30 p.m. on May 20 online or by calling Alumni Engagement-Chicago Office at (309) 438-3500. Minimum age to volunteer at the Northern Illinois Food Bank is 8 years old.
Be sure to follow the Chicago Suburban Alumni Network Facebook page and make sure to select “See First” under the “Follow” tab to stay updated on news and events.
WHAT IS #REDBIRDIMPACT MONTH?
Civic engagement is a core value at Illinois State University, and the University prides itself to see Redbirds continue to be engaged and active citizens after graduation.
During the month of June, the Alumni Association and the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning encourage Redbirds to come together to show what it means to make a #RedbirdImpact. June 21-23 will be #RedbirdImpact Alumni Weekend at Illinois State where alumni can gather and serve in Normal. Other service opportunities will be available across the country through several alumni networks. Those that can’t attend a planned event can still spread their good work by sharinng photos with #RedbirdImpact at a personal service project.
