Event Description
Visit the newest National Park! The Pullman National Historical Monument on Chicago’s southside reflects five stories: industrialization, railroads, a planned community, labor organizing, and civil rights. Visit the newly opened National Park Service with its Visitors Center and Pullman interpretation. The Historic Pullman Foundation (HPF) has a new exhibit highlighting 50 years of neighborhood restoration and revitalization. Walk the factory grounds and see the 1880s row houses George Pullman built for his workers. HPF board member and local historian, Mike Matejka, will join us on the trip and assist with the tour. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, Lexington Betty Smokehouse, known for its famous BBQ.
The bus will depart from ISU’s Office of Parking and Transportation lot, 709 N. Main St., Normal.
