Climate Change: Evidence For (including demonstrations) and Mitigation
Dr. C. Frank Shaw III, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, will present a talk entitled, “Climate Change: Evidence For (including demonstrations) and Mitigation” at 4:30 p.m. at the University Club in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center.
Climate Change is a real phenomenon that we are already experiencing. Ten physical properties of the earth are changing at increasing rates and with dramatic impact in some instances. After a review of the evidence and several demonstrations, we will look at some steps needed to mitigate the increasingly rapid accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere and thermal energy in the atmosphere and oceans. “October 10th – 16th is Global Climate Change Week – a time to spread the word.”
All faculty, staff, annuitants and guests are welcome to join us at the University Club from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Friday in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center. You need not be a University Club member to attend. Additional information about U-Club events and activities can be found at our website, http://uclub.illinoisstate.edu/. Continued program support is provided by the Offices of the ISU Provost and President.
