Critical Social Issues in Bloomington-Normal: A Panel Discussion

Event Description

The American Democracy Project will be hosting a panel discussion focusing on some of the key local social issues in Bloomington-Normal. Joining them will be four panelists, each representing different community-based organizations.

Deborah Halperin is director of the Action Research Center at Illinois Wesleyan University and has been involved with the West Bloomington Revitalization Project for a long time. She will speak about the East/West divide.

Mike O’Grady is vice president of the Economic Development Council of Bloomington-Normal. He will speak about workforce and job development.

Breanna Grow works with the Community Health Care Clinic and is an AmeriCorps VISTA participant and will speak about access to healthcare.

Kathy King-Nobles is pastor at Normal First United Methodist Church and will speak about the School Street Food Pantry and food security.
