Design Your Course

Monday, May 9, 12:00 am11:59 pm

Registration is required

Design Your Course will help you develop effective learning outcomes, engaging learning activities, assessments which properly align to your assignments, and a welcoming syllabus… all in time for the start of the academic year. It is intended to help pre-tenure and non-tenure track instructors develop effective teaching practices through research-based pedagogical inquiry. At the conclusion of this experience, you will have created a course plan designed to support student success through evidence-based equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility pedagogy.

The experience will kick-off with a face-to-face meeting in Williams Hall on Wednesday, May 11. Work will continue online. You will participate in asynchronous work through ReggieNet with a cohort of your peers. During May and June, you will learn how to fully develop course materials, and you’ll spend July working on your own course. The workshop concludes with a final group session on July 29.

Depending upon experience, you can expect to spend anywhere from 6 to 13 hours each week participating in Design Your Course. A $500 stipend is available to eligible participants who complete the program. This workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Please note: Tenured faculty members may apply, but preference will be given to pre-tenure and non-tenure track instructors. Graduate students are not eligible to take DYC but may be interested in a similar experience offered through the Future Faculty program; email David Giovagnoli at dgiovag@ilstu.edu to learn more.
