The ISU Planetarium Presents: Dinosaurs at Dusk New Year’s Eve!

Monday, December 31st 2018
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Event Description

Are you looking for an exciting, family-friendly activity on New Year’s Eve?  Then consider the Illinois State University Planetarium!  We are offering fun-packed, full-dome planetarium shows throughout the evening in celebration of New Years.

The Planetarium will present “Dinosaurs at Dusk: The Origins of Flight” at 6 PM and 7:30 PM, on December 31.  “From Earth to the Universe” will follow at 9 PM.  All shows are free and open to the public.  Seating is limited.

“Dinosaurs at Dusk” follows the adventures of a father and his teenage daughter as they share a fascination for all things that fly.  The two travel back in time, navigating from continent to continent, exploring an Earth teeming with pterosaurs and the ancestors of modern-day birds – the feathered dinosaurs.  When time runs out, father and daughter experience first-hand the cataclysmic “last day” of the dinosaurs.

After each program we will take a quick look at NASA’s New Horizons space probe’s exciting encounter with Kuiper Belt object Ultima Thule, on New Year’s Day.  Free NASA New Horizons handouts will be available while supplies last.

These special New Year’s Eve programs are free and open to the public.  Doors open starting 20-30 minutes before each show.  Seating is limited and first-come first-serve.

The ISU Planetarium is located under the white domed roof at the eastern end of Felmley Hall of Science Annex.  Felmley Hall is located on the northeast corner of the ISU campus at the intersection of College Avenue and School Street.

Free parking is available a short distance from the ISU Planetarium in University parking lot F-67, located on the east side of School Street.
