Class Description:

Discover the history of art during the 17th century, the age of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Although those are the most familiar names, the Netherlands had more artists per capita than anywhere else in Europe. What led to this boom in artistic production and consumption? Beranek will examine a wide range of artists and their works within the social and historical contexts that shaped new modes of viewing, new audiences for art, and new genres of artistic creation.

Saskia Beranek, assistant professor, Wonsook Kim School of Art, ISU
