Fall Break Outdoor Climbing Trip
Bring your next adventure to new heights! The Adventure Program will make the most of fall break by traveling to Jasper, Arkansas, home of one of the best climbing areas East of the Rockies. We will spend our days top rope & sport climbing the sandstone bluffs that are home to over 400 routes that range from in difficulty from 5.5 – 5.14. We will spend our evenings sharing stories around the campfire & sleeping in tents under the stars. You don’t have to be a top class climber to participate, our trip leaders will plan routes that match the skills of all registered participants. This area of Arkansas is also home to the Buffalo National River, which offers picturesque hikes to rock formations and waterfalls. We will spend at least 2 full days climbing, and may spend some time hiking, but will still be back in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Transportation, entrance fees, food on all camping days, and equipment is included in the trip cost.
Difficulty: moderate to hard due to dynamic terrain and cool temperatures (averages 60’s high, 40’s low).
PREREQUISITES: All participants MUST be belay certified at ISU’s climbing wall by the pre-trip meeting. Participants MUST attend a Pre-Trip meeting scheduled on November 13 from 4-6pm. Contact Rachel Iversen at email@example.com if you have a class that conflicts with the scheduled pre-trip meeting.
Register by November 6 using this link, or register at the Student Fitness Center Welcome Desk.
