Event Description

Explore the episodes of the podcast Seeing White that help us understand the historical context of Whiteness and how it helped to maintain the system of racial oppressions. Registration is required.

In CTLT’s Seeing White workshop and study group series, we will discuss the inceptions of racist-thoughts and system and how we are all unwittingly socialized into these ideas – although we often have good intentions to be fair and just. Using the podcast series called Seeing White, we’ll critically examine the ideas of whiteness, white-supremacy, color-blind ideology, and aversive racism. For each session, you’ll be asked to listen to 3-4 podcast episodes to prepare for the discussion.

Conversation on race and racism is often difficult, but we’ll together create a non-threatening, engaging environment to help you start your journey to become anti-racist.

This workshop falls under the AAC&U High-Impact Educational Practice of Diversity/Global Learning.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
