Homecoming 2023: Redbirds Reign Town and Gown Hybrid 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk

“Redbirds Reign” at Homecoming 2023 and what better way to show that pride and strength than to be a part of the annual Town and Gown Hybrid 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. The in-person race will take off at the Student Fitness Center on October 14 at 8 a.m. and make its way through Uptown Normal and around campus. One water stop will be set on the course, and refreshments along with the Office of Sustainability’s reusable water bottles will be available afterward for all run/walk participants. Check out the course, map out your own as a participant in the virtual race, and get a little extra training help from our “couch to 5K” training schedule.

This year’s registration cost is $20 for all ages in-person and for virtual participants wanting a 5K shirt. Online registration is available until 4:30 p.m. October 6. Once online registration closes, participants may register in person at the Alumni Center. The cost for those interested in the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk is $20 as well.

Participants who register before September 12 will be guaranteed an exclusive race shirt and a goodie bag. 

Virtual runners will receive a confirmation email in the following weeks after registering, including a bib to print, further instructions, and a link to submit race time. Shirts will be mailed. All participants are encouraged to run on October 14 sporting their Redbird gear to “reign,” but you can finish anytime prior to that date. Use #RedbirdHomecoming to be included in our Homecoming photos montage.
