I Didn’t Know I Couldn’t Copy That: The University’s Response to Academic Dishonesty
What do you do when a student says, “…but I didn’t know I couldn’t copy that?” Participants will first complete a series of asynchronous modules in ReggieNet, exploring how Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, a part of the Dean of Students Office, engages faculty and students in conversations around academic integrity, and what you (and our students) can expect meeting with our staff. These modules will cover why reporting is critical and how SCCR staff members address these incidents. We will also have a sample meeting video, so you can see what the experience looks like for the student when you’ve made a referral.
During a synchronous Zoom session, participants will explore ways to infuse academic integrity expectations into their assignment instructions and discuss some of the common concerns students and instructors have about this important topic. We will end a brief discussion of the other types of support and resources offered by the Dean of Students Office including the Redbird’s Care team, conflict resolution, conflict coaching, and the Dean on Duty. A $100 stipend is available for eligible participants. Registration is required.
Parts of this workshop will be offered online using Zoom. Check out these helpful hints for participation.
