Illinois State University Speaker Series – Felipe Calderón
Adlai E. Stevenson Memorial Lecture Series
Thursday, March 23
Westbrook Auditorium, Illinois Wesleyan University
Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University will co-host the Adlai E. Stevenson Memorial Lecture Series. Felipe Calderón, former president of Mexico, will address aspects of climate change in tribute to Stevenson’s 1965 path-breaking speech on issues relevant to the environment.
In addition to President Calderón’s primary address on March 23, there will also be a master class for students at 3 p.m. on the Illinois State University campus in the Bone Student Center Circus Room.
Calderón served as president of Mexico from 2006-2012. Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Council of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), member of the Board of the World Resources Institute, and chairman of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. He has been honored as a world leader on environmental issues, and is founder and president of the Sustainable Human Development Foundation, where he works to analyze and propose viable policy alternatives for Mexico and promote low carbon development alternatives for the world.
The Illinois State University Speaker Series seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the aim of providing the community with a platform to foster dialogue, cultivate enriching ideas, and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process. All talks are free and open to the public.
