International Education Week: College of Fine Arts Lunch Talk – Life and Career as a Graphic Designer in Shanghai

From a first-person narrative, this talk provides an overview of the life, educational and career experiences of being a graphic designer in Shanghai, China, with the background of how graphic design as a profession has developed during the past two decades along with the rapid social-economic development process in urban China. Some sample graphic design work will be shown at the talk along with the stories of how they were developed and how they were used. Towards the end of the talk, the speaker will also share some reflections on the comparison between the graphic design styles and trends between Shanghai and Chicago.
Mr. Huayong Zhong is an award-winning graphic designer in Shanghai. He is Assistant Professor at Shanghai Normal University Tianhua College (SNUTC), and he is currently a visiting scholar in the College of Fine Arts at Illinois State University (ISU).
