International Faculty Café

In conjunction with host Geeta Pasi, Donald F. McHenry Visiting Professor in Diplomacy and International Affairs in the department of Politics and Government, the Office of International Engagement [OIE] invites you to RSVP for the upcoming International Faculty Café event. Please join us on Monday, March 24 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. with an afternoon of light refreshments, networking, and insightful discourse.
This event will feature two retired Foreign Service Officers and former ambassadors.
Ambassador Carol Z. Perez retired on December 31, 2022, as a career member of the Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor. She is the former Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Global Talent at the Department of State. Ambassador Perez was appointed by the President on January 30, 2019, and served in that position until June 1, 2022. In her capacity as Director General, she provided strategic leadership and guidance to the Secretary and Department leaders on talent management issues that affected a global workforce of over 78,000. Leading a team of 840 employees, she directed the Bureau of Global Talent Management’s mission, ensuring the Department recruited, developed, and empowered the world’s premier diplomatic team to advance U.S. foreign policy goals.

Patrick Francis Kennedy retired from the U.S. Department of State on January 31, 2017, after a 44-year career as a management professional, during which he rose to the rank of Career Minister in the Foreign Service. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Under Secretary for Management on November 6, 2007, and served in that position until January 27, 2017. In that position he was responsible for the people, resources, finances, facilities, technology, consular affairs, and security of the Department of State, both domestically and overseas, and served concurrently as the Department’s Chief Financial Officer.
