Marlon Riggs short films screening (Fired Up! film series)

Wednesday, February 25 , 7:00 pm 8:30 pm CST

Join Queer Coalition, Illinois State’s sponsored LGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, and graduate student affinity group, for a FREE screening of three short films directed by pioneering HIV-positive filmmaker Marlon Riggs. With Affirmations (1990) and Anthem (1991), Riggs presents a defiant celebration of desire and resistance. His penultimate work, Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien (No Regret) (1993) profiles five HIV-positive Black men discussing their individual confrontations with AIDS. Dr. Byron Craig will provide a short scholarly introduction prior to the films.

This event is part of Queer Coalition’s spring film series, “Fired Up! The American AIDS Crisis on Film,” which also includes the following screenings:

  • Wednesday, February 18, 7 p.m.: United in Anger: A History of ACT UP (2012)
