Event Description

Your students’ goals may differ greatly from the goals you set for them. We, as teachers, run into trouble when we want them to pursue learning for its own stake. But they may be motivated by other factors that have nothing to do with learning in your course. This session explores how to create a learning environment that answers your students’ often-unspoken question, “Why should I care?” Registration is required using the website link, above.

About the series: Motivation is a key factor in helping students to learn. Very little, if any, learning take place if students don’t have a reason to engage with course material. A further challenge: There’s not one method of motivation that works with all students, all the time. This seminar series will look at a variety of motivational theories and explore how they can be used to inspire our diverse community of learners. Attend as many sessions as you can.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
