Philadelphia Area Alumni Network #RedbirdImpact service project deadline
Friday, June 21 All day
As part of #RedbirdImpact Month, the Philadelphia Area Alumni Network is partnering with the Laundromat Library League (LLL) to help make a difference in the community.
The LLL makes books available to children who may have few or no books at home by placing small libraries in laundromats. The group started in Pennsylvania and has expanded to 216 sites in 28 states. Types of books accepted include:
- New and gently used children’s books
- Ages infant through young adult
- Fiction and Non-fiction (please, no encyclopedias)
- Donate children’s books that donors would be proud to give to a child
- No old books that have yellowed over time and no torn covers
Those interested in donating can send books to Philadelphia Area Network Leader Phil Tripp ’75, M.S. ’77 (pictured above with his wife Margaret ’74, M.S.E. ’76), at 8 Oakbourne Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Those with questions can reach out to Phil. To be a part of #RedbirdImpact Month, please send your book donations by June 21.
How else to make a #RedbirdImpact
Alumni and friends can join a Redbird scheduled #RedbirdImpact service project including a special day on campus. Can’t make it to one of those scheduled activities? Register any volunteer hours between now and the end of June to help reach the 450-hour goal. Each time an alum or friend submits hours, they will also be entered to win the summer impact prize that will include items to enjoy a relaxing day outside after working hard to make a #RedbirdImpact.
Those interested in coordinating a service project for their area Redbirds in June can reach out to the Alumni Engagement Office for help with promotions and registrations.
