Date:
Tuesday, March 5th
Time:
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Description

(Physics Lecture Series) Rivian Automotive Normal, Quality Assurance
“Electric Vehicles from Rivian in Normal, IL”

Electric vehicles offer a number of advantages over conventional internal combustion vehicles including lower local emissions, improved reliability, higher energy efficiency, and decreased dependency upon oil. However, there are significant challenges to overcome before electric vehicles can completely replace the internal combustion engine.

A complimentary technology to electric vehicles is autonomy which can be as simple as a warning system to indicate lane departure or automatic braking, or it can be as complex as a fully self-driving vehicle. Much like the battery technology, the fully autonomous technology must cross many hurdles before it will be accepted as mainstream.

This talk will focus on current electric vehicle technology and autonomy, the challenges, and the potential future direction of mobility. It will conclude with projected workforce skills and education required to meet these challenges.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
