Physics Colloquium Series: Superintendent Rick Twait

Date:
Tuesday, March 27th
Time:
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Description

(Physics Lecture Series) City of Bloomington Water Purification
“Integrating Planning, Treatment, Economics, and Research to Maintain a Resilient Water System”

Operating and maintaining a community water supply requires action and thinking about technical matters and social issues, economic predictions and demographic projections. The time scales for those activities range from minutes and seconds for treatment processes to decades and centuries for supply and demand concerns.

This talk will provide an introduction to treatment processes at the Bloomington Water Treatment Plant, source operation practices, water quality concerns and protection actions and long term supply and infrastructure planning. The role of partnerships, including with Illinois State University, in assuring a safe and resilient water supply will also be described.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
