POL Brown Bag Lecture: Rhiannon Stringer

Date:
Wednesday, September 4th
Time:
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Event Description

The Department of Politics and Government will host a brown bag lecture led by a graduate student Rhiannon Stringer at noon, Wednesday, September 4, in Schroeder Hall 203.

The title of her talk will be “Who ‘Throws Away’ Their Vote?”

Summary: This talk examines why certain members of the electorate that turn out to vote on Election Day opt to “throw away” their vote (i.e. abstain or vote for a non-major party candidate). The project argues that individuals with low trust in government are highly susceptible to negative information environments and more easily become discouraged by their candidate choices (than those with high levels of faith in governing institutions).
