Preparing Students for Effective Group Work
Group assignments often fail to live up to our expectations. While some students may consider themselves veterans in terms of group work, most are often not well prepared to work effectively in groups. One way to address this problem is to make group assignments do double duty. The same assignment can both meet specific course goals and prepare students to work effectively in groups. Discover how to encourage students to create a group identity, solve common group problems as they arise, and reflect on and assess their teammates’ contributions to a group. Luncheon is provided. A stipend is available for eligible participants. Registration is required.
This workshop falls under the AAC&U High-Impact Educational Practice of Collaborative Assignments and Projects.
