Professional Speaker Series: Dr. Ela Przybylo, 2/21
As part of the Professional Speaker Series, the Publications Unit in the Department of English is welcoming Dr. Ela Przybylo, assistant professor in the Department of English and a founding and managing editor of the peer-reviewed, open access, independent journal Feral Feminisms, to discuss her work in the publishing industry in a talk titled “Publishing as Worldmaking: Why and How to Start a Badass Feminist Journal.”
The event is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21, in the Publications Unit (Williams Hall Annex), and it is free and open to the public.
About Dr. Ela Przybylo
Dr. Ela Przybylo (she/her) is assistant professor in the Department of English and core faculty in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Illinois State University. She is the author of Asexual Erotics: Intimate Readings of Compulsory Sexuality (Ohio State University Press 2019) and editor of On the Politics of Ugliness (with Sara Rodrigues, Palgrave 2018). Ela is also a founding and managing editor of the peer-reviewed, open access, independent journal Feral Feminisms. The Professional Speaker Series invites professionals from all areas of the publishing industry to campus—in person or virtually—to give a lecture on a pertinent topic followed by an in-depth Q&A session with students and interested university and community members. This event is a great networking opportunity in an informal setting and a chance for students to learn about careers that engage their skills in the English and publishing fields.
