Puerto Rico: reinforcing a sense of place through art after the hurricane
School of Art graduate student Mary Beth Breshears led mural projects, photographed, and participated in relief efforts in Puerto Rico this summer. The exhibits highlights the coming together of people to rebuild a community in Patillas, Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria.
Her photographs tell a story of strength, resilience, and the reinforcement of a sense of place after the natural disaster. Each photograph is a moment of pause that allows for the realization and awareness of our own emotions. They allow for an understanding of how art can transform a space and brighten the lives of the people in a community.
This exhibit was made possible with the support of the Friends of the Arts.
