Queering the Latinx Community

Date:
Thursday, October 18th
Time:
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Event Description

The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) and Pride are joining together to welcome Juniperangelica Cordova to Illinois State’s campus.

Cordova is a translatina organizer from Los Angeles, California. Rooted in community and family, her work is centered around justice for communities who live at the intersections of the American imperialism project and social resistance. Cordova has worked with the Transgender Law Center and GSA Network; she is passionate about providing survival resources and eventual stability for poor, Black/brown trans women and families.

Cordova will be hosting a workshop on Thursday, October 18, from 11-11:50 a.m. in Old Main. She will also be giving a keynote speech on decolonizing activism and re-rooting community organizing for the most marginalized the same day from 3-5 p.m. in the Founders Suite at the Bone Student Center.

For more information, please visit the Association of Latina American Students Facebook or Pride’s  Facebook page.
