Join CTLT Director Claire Lamonica in reading and discussing Reclaiming Conversation by Sherry Turkel. Turkel’s central argument is that we live in an age that enables, perhaps actively encourages, us to move our conversations into digital spaces, avoiding face-to-face conversations in personal, professional, and public spheres. We even, she suggests, lose the impetus to engage in internal conversations, our private reflections, as we spend more and more time focused on our ubiquitous devices. Rather than advising us to remove ourselves from digital spaces completely, however, Turkel offers a clear, moderate, even hopeful path forward. In other words, this book offers plenty of food for thought and conversation! A copy of the book will be provided. Seating is limited. Registration is required.
