Reflecting on Race and Positionality
In this session, we explore the episodes that help us reflect our own identity and discuss what we can do to change the system of racial oppressions. Registration is required.
A Journey to Becoming Anti-Racist is a series in which we discuss the inceptions of racist thoughts and systems and examine how we are all unwittingly socialized into these ideas – although we often have good intentions to be fair and just. Using a podcast series, we’ll critically examine the ideas of cultural-supremacy, color-blind ideology, and aversive racism. For each session, you’ll be asked to listen to 3-4 podcast episodes to prepare for the discussion.
Conversation on race and racism is often difficult, but we’ll together create a non-threatening, engaging environment to help you start (or continue) your journey to become anti-racist.
This workshop falls under the AAC&U High-Impact Educational Practice of Diversity/Global Learning.
