Canceled: Social Work Day 2020: Social Work and Environmental Justice
- Monday, March 30th
8:15 am - 4:00 pm
Environmental justice connects the person-in-environment model of professional social work practice with a focus on marginalized populations. Social Work Day 2020 will examine and explore the means by which social workers can more fully champion environmental justice.
Our keynote speaker, Christina Erickson, PhD, MSW, will present material from her recent book, Environmental Justice as Social Work Practice. Rounding out the program is a panel of Illinois State University faculty and community leaders whose work focus on environmental issues. Our aim is to inspire and cultivate action among social workers to address air and water pollution, global industrial practices, and climate change as these issues have already had a disproportionate impact on marginalized populations. This conference is free to attend but you will need to register. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for purchase for licensed LSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, and LCPCs.
