Paul Van Auken

Professor Paul Van Auken, of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, will be presenting his talk, Fusing Two Lines of Thought: A Proposed Bridge Between Leopold and Sociological Community at noon on Friday, January 24, in Schroeder Hall, room 206.

Using Aldo Leopold’s A Sand County Almanac, Van Auken will discuss why Leopold seems to have made little impact on sociology despite his influential concept of land-community along with sociological approaches to community.   Van Auken will offer a framework of the concept of community which will fuse these two lines of thought and thus help mankind better understand themselves, their environment and how they live.
