SPANISH CLUB: Day of the Dead Cultural Presentation
Wednesday, October 30 , 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm CDT
Open to All Public
Spanish Club is hosting the yearly Day of the Dead Cultural Presentation on Wednesday, October 30, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Multicultural Center, located at 301 S. Main Street, Normal IL.
Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebrates the brief reunion of (Mexican) families with their deceased relatives. A blend of Aztec (Mesoamerican) ritual, Spanish culture, and Catholicism. During this event, Spanish Club will have an altar, a speaker, food, face painting, recognize the winners of the Shoebox Altar Contest, a presentation of the Ballet Folclorico De Colores, and a display of “Calaveritas Literarias” from one of the Spanish classes of Dr. Alejandro Enriquez. Come and hear a story recounting a family’s preparation, watch a slide presentation, enjoy the music, taste Mexican dinner, try pan de muerto (bread of the dead), and hot chocolate. An evening to remember those who left us … Los esperamos, Spanish Club
