Teaching with Primary Sources
Primary source documents can often illuminate events or ideas in very real, almost tangible, ways. The University’s Special Collections at Milner Library hosts a wide variety of historical letters, documents, and other artifacts that can help bring history alive for your students. The intellectual and sometimes emotional impact of these original texts connect students to historic or cultural events in ways secondary sources can only hint at. In this workshop, learn how to teach with these materials, unearth ways to integrate primary sources into your particular class, and learn about the process of scheduling a class within Special Collections. Lunch is provided. A stipend is available for eligible participants. Registration is required.
