Threads of Tradition Exhibition Opening Reception

Sunday, March 30 , 2:00 pm 4:00 pm CDT

Join the Lois Jett Historical Fashion Collection (LJHFC) for an opening reception to celebrate the new exhibition, “Threads of Tradition: The Legacy of Agricultural Fashion.” After a short presentation about the exhibition from LJHFC student curators, artifact manager, and director, guests will have the opportunity to visit “Threads of Tradition” in the LJHFC gallery. Refreshments will be provided.

“Threads of Tradition” features clothing made from agricultural materials such as silk, wool, leather, and cotton, as well as garments associated with the agricultural youth organizations FFA and 4-H. The exhibition was planned and installed by a student in the Fashion Design and Merchandising (FDM) program at Illinois State.

The LJHFC is a teaching collection started in 1962 by Lois Jett, a faculty member in FDM within the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. More than 2,000 items of dress, textiles, and associated artifacts from around the world dating from 700 CE to today are dedicated to helping students across the university learn.
