The Arthouse Cinema and Its Role in the Video-On-Demand World.

Friday, February 10th 2017
3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Event Description

Adam Fox, Theater and Civic Arts Manager, Normal Parks and  Recreation Department, will present a talk entitled, “The Arthouse Cinema and Its Role in the Video-On-Demand World”, at 4:30 p.m. at the University Club in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center.  One of the key components of the Theater and Civic Arts Manager is programming for the Normal Theater, the art deco movie house in Uptown Normal.  The mission of the Normal Theater is to provide audiences with the classic cinema-going experience, an activity that fosters a sense of community while offering added context to a film.  In an age where content is available at all times across a host of different devices, the bringing-together of an audience for a shared narrative is perhaps more important than it has ever been.  But also along with those devices have come unique opportunities to make film more of a participatory art form, and those opportunities will help define what’s next for the Normal Theater.

All faculty, staff, annuitants and guests are welcome to join us at the University Club from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Friday in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center. You need not be a University Club member to attend. Additional information about U-Club events and activities can be found at our website, http://uclub.illinoisstate.edu/. Continued program support is provided by the Office of the ISU Provost and President. In addition, snacks and liquid refreshments are available at each meeting.

If you will need special accommodations, please contact the event organizer.
