Event Description

Dr. John Sedbrook, Professor of Genetics, School of Biological Sciences, will give a presentation entitled, “The Societal and Economic Benefits of Pennycress ”, at 4:30 p.m. at the University Club in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center. This research nicely demonstrates how we can bring modern genetic tools to bear in rapidly domesticating pennycress from a weed into a legitimate crop to address a number of societal issues including food security, environmental degradation, and climate change.  You need not be a University Club member to attend.

Everyone from the Illinois State University community is welcome including all staff, faculty, annuitants, graduate students and other members of the University.  Please join us at the University Club from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Faculty/Staff Commons in the Bone Student Center.  Talks commence at 4:30 p.m.  Snacks and liquid refreshments are available at each meeting.  Please add this to your schedule.  We look forward to seeing you.

Additional information about U-Club events and activities can be found at our website (uclub.illinoisstate.edu). Continued program support is provided by the Offices of the ISU Provost and President.
