University Club Talk – “Interdisciplinary Inquiry with a Multispecies World: Human-Animal Studies & Contemporary Art”

Ruth Burke, assistant professor of video in the Wonsook Kim School of Art, will give a presentation entitled “Interdisciplinary Inquiry with a Multispecies World: Human-Animal Studies & Contemporary Art at the University Club on Friday, March 18, at 3 p.m. via Zoom.
What do the fields of human-animal studies and contemporary art have to do with one another? In this talk, Burke will discuss how her creative research rooted in the interdisciplinary field of human-animal studies informs her pedagogical philosophy and teaching. Burke will discuss “Seeds” a 2021 student-produced documentary, her work with the ISU Horticulture Center and with Sunnyside Community Garden in West Bloomington, and the upcoming Fall 2022 Special Topics course “Taking the Bull by the Horns: Animals & Contemporary Art.”
