Using Digital Humanities Tools in the Classroom
Digital humanities projects can be simple or complex and can be incorporated into the classroom using a variety of tools. Using tools that are relatively simple to learn and teach, attendees will learn how to incorporate digital exhibits, digital publishing, and data visualization projects into learning environments. The workshop will also cover ideas for projects, methods for getting started, and resources and techniques for finding images, text, numerical data sets, and other source materials to create effective assignments.
The course will be a mixture of recorded lectures and demonstrations (starting May 18), culminating in a Zoom session (May 26) where participants will try out their new skills while working on a collaborative activity. Participants will have time during this session to ask questions, share observations, and discuss next steps in creating an assignment using the tools and techniques covered in the class. A $100 stipend is available for eligible participants. Registration is required.
Portions of this workshop will be offered online using Zoom. Check out these helpful hints for participation.
