This series provides near weekly opportunities to learn from talented artists from all around the globe. Previously, these lectures were held in University Galleries in Uptown Normal. Due to current circumstances, the Spring 2021 iteration of the Visiting Artist Series will occur entirely on Zoom. This event series is free and open to the public.
Artist Statement from the featured artist, B. Ingrid Olson:
“Using elements of photography, sculpture, and performance, B. Ingrid Olson’s work explores the boundaries between bodies and spaces. Within the confines of her studio, she records her body as it moves—shifting in relationship to its surroundings. The results of this process are multi-dimensional objects and images that re-imagine the capacities of the body and the structuring of space.
Olson lives and works in Chicago. In 2010, she graduated with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, at institutions such as the Henie-Onstad Kunstsenter, Høvikodden, Norway; Aspen Art Museum; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Albright-Knox Art Gallery; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and The Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago.
