Commitment to Diversity Awards

The Commitment to Diversity Awards ceremony recognizes current Illinois State undergraduate and graduate students, registered student organizations, faculty and staff who have demonstrated outstanding curricular and co-curricular programming, service, and research that support the University’s commitment to diversity. Diversity Advocacy is sponsoring a new series of workshops that examine identity and the ways in which those identities intersect into systems of power and oppression. The series hopes to create an introduction to identity exploration and an understanding of the way in which someone’s identity helps shape how they move through the world and interact with others. Safe Zone with Diversity Advocacy

In an effort to provide support to our lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) community, the Dean of Students Office has created Safe Zone. Safe Zone provides  students, faculty and staff the opportunity to create safe spaces on campus that are highly visible and easily identifiable to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) persons. These Safe Zones are spaces where support and understanding are readily available and bigotry and discrimination are not tolerated.
