ISU Drug Takeback Event

Saturday, April 27 , 10:00 am 2:00 pm CDT

A drug takeback event to collect unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications, inhalers, syringes/sharps, and electronic vape devices will be hosted by Health Promotion and Wellness (on behalf of Recovery for Redbirds) and the Illinois State University Police Department. Participants can also receive a Deterra drug deactivation pouch (instantly neutralizes medications for trash disposal) and information about Fentanyl, which is found in all illicit drugs and many of the growing number of fake pills in distribution. Finally, Narcan and Fentanyl Test Strips will be available, provided anonymously after a 5-minute training.

Prescription and over-the-counter medications (as well as the other items being collected at the event) can harm our water supply and environment when disposed of improperly by flushing or throwing in the landfill. Unused or expired medications are also a public safety issue, leading to misuse and accidental drug poisoning.
