Final Twelve Thousand Bombs seminar of Spring 2024: ‘What’s the bomb got to do with it?’ with Shelly Lesher
Wednesday, April 17 , 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm CDT
When the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) planned to “nuke” a harbor in Point Hope, Alaska in 1958, the Iñupiat residents and local scientists fought back. Did they win? How has this project continued to impact us today? From this story, we will participate in a citizen science project, find boxes of discarded teeth, and start a research project to cure Alzheimer’s Disease.
