Primaries and Popcorn
Tuesday, March 19 , 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm CDT
The Center for Civic Engagement is partnering with the School of Communication, Student Government Association, Student Legislative Action Coalition, and Heartland Community College’s Political Science Club to host “Primaries and Popcorn,” an election result watch party, on the evening of March 19. Results from the primary elections in Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Kansas, and Arizona will be broadcast from multiple major news networks as they come in, and the School of Communication is providing monitors from the Social Media Analytics Command Center to track social media trends and reactions.
Attendees will have the opportunity to watch and discuss results with their peers, faculty, and staff, as well as learn about the impact of the primary results on the general election from local, state, national, and global perspectives. Join us in SCH 138 any time between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to check on the results and consider the implications for the general election in November.
